DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Tax Account Collections Technician, you will be responsible for reviewing applications for Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board tax clearance to ensure all requirements are met, including registration and compliance with all requisite tax systems. Work involves determining if liabilities are collectable, updating revenue tax systems, and processing tax payments. Effective communication is key as you will be contacting taxpayers or their representatives to inform them of all delinquent taxes and/or non-filed tax returns or periods that need to be paid in full prior to the issuance of clearances. Attention to detail is essential for reviewing returns and tax reports for completeness and establishing deferred payment plans for taxpayers. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience reviewing tax documents and applying tax laws and rules and regulations and making taxpayer liability decisions; or
  • Three years of experience in the collection of taxes; or
  • Three year of experience in the provision of taxpayer assistance which involves the explanation of the application of tax laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; or
  • Any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the required knowledges, skills and abilities.


Additional Requirements:

  • You must abide by the prohibition guidelines and refrain from gambling in Pennsylvania casinos, or any casino outside of Pennsylvania with the same owners.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
