Team Lead - LTD Claims - Remote at Symetra

Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Team Lead in Long-term Disability Claims!
About the role
As the LTD Team Lead, you'll guide and develop claims staff, ensure quality and accuracy in claim decisions, and collaborate with management and consultants to improve processes. You'll also play a key role in training, mentoring, and operational support.
What You'll Do
- Drive team performance to meet or exceed operational goals
- Review and approve claim decisions, system coding, and communications
- Identify trends and share insights with leadership
- Support case manager development and adjust decision authority as needed
- Lead the formal mentor program and deliver team training
- Ensure accountability for training outcomes
- Collaborate with consultants and management on training needs
- Provide operational support including escalated calls, reporting, interviews, and project work
- Assign new claims and respond to audit feedback
- Build strong relationships with brokers, policyholders, and employees
- Partner with account management and sales support to enhance collaboration
- Promote continuous improvement and efficiency
- Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative team culture
- Assist with claims during high volume or coverage needs
- Support finalist presentations as needed

Compensation
Salary Range: $64,200 - $106,900 plus eligibility for annual bonus program
Who You Are
- High School Diploma required; college degree preferred
- 5+ years of LTD/disability claims experience
- Solid understanding of LTD Claims
- Familiarity with SOX controls and ERISA regulations
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and delivering training
- Skilled in reviewing claims and providing constructive feedback
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Diligent attention to detail with strong time management and multitasking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Technical aptitude and problem solving skills
- Mathematical skills
- Experience with Fineos a plus
- Committed to outstanding customer service and teamwork
