Smith Engineering Smith Engineering is seeking Part Time Technical Trainers to join our team in the New York Metro area. You will split your time between our Manhattan office and various customer sites. Your Role We are building a gold-standard technical training organization to support our clients in renewable energy and Chiller Plant Design. We’re hiring part-time Technical Trainers who combine credible, hands-on technical expertise with the ability to deliver engaging adult learning to mixed-experience audiences. This role sits in the Delivery pillar of our Training Group and is critical to the execution of client trainings on time and to contract. Responsibilities: Training delivery Arriving 30–45 minutes ahead of scheduled course start time you will complete classroom setup and “preflight” checks; deliver assigned curriculum to defined standards; Adapting delivery in real time to audience needs, while continuing to abide by delivering defined Learning Objectives and/or Key Lesson Points Manage mixed-skill cohorts (e.g.: execs needing high-level context, engineers seeking analysis, technicians focusing ed on operations, maintenance and/or troubleshooting aspects) Training administration Complete post-session documentation: attendance records, client surveys, training delivery recordings, exams/knowledge checks administration Ensure client records are accurate and submitted on time Quality and client satisfaction Maintain 4.0+ average on 5-point post-training client surveys (preparedness/knowledge, professional/engaging delivery, effective Q&A or committed follow-up) Courseware Support Incorporate feedback to continuously improve course materials and/or delivery Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to ensure course materials remain relevant and up to date The successful candidate will operate as a mission-focused, team-oriented contributor within a small, growing organization, partnering with cross-functional leadership on standards, processes, and continuous improvement Qualifications: BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering strongly preferred, or equivalent “in the field” experience / professional trade-schooling Extensive experience with HVAC, Facilities Management and Maintenance, or other related fields Adult Training Experience required (classroom or one-on-one), along with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse adult audiences Comfort tailoring content depth on the fly across multiple proficiency levels, while still ensuring that the successful delivery of Training Objectives and Key Lesson Points remains assured You are a dependable, disciplined self-starter who is both customer and mission-focused Must be located within 50 miles of New York City.
