Job Details:
SmartStart Education seeks Career and Technical Education Aides to work with high school students Monday - Friday from 8am to 2pm at a school near Albany, NY.
The position begins as soon as possible and ends on June 26, 2026.
Responsibilities include:
Instructional Support:Assist the CTE teacher with the preparation and delivery of instructional materials and activities.
Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students needing extra help.
Supervise students during classroom activities, labs, and off-site projects.
Help students operate tools, equipment, and technology used in the CTE program.
Set up and organize classroom and lab equipment and materials.
Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned, maintained, and stored properly.
Support safety practices by monitoring student use of tools and enforcing safety rules.
Assist with grading, record-keeping, and data entry under the direction of the teacher.
Prepare instructional materials such as handouts, charts, and visual aids.
Encourage student participation and help maintain a positive learning environment.
Monitor student behavior and report concerns to the CTE teacher or administration.
Support students in developing soft skills, such as teamwork, time management, and workplace etiquette.

- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution in any field is mandatory. ***Please note that applications with anticipated graduation dates will not be considered.
- Demonstrated experience of at least 6 months in working within a school environment or another learning and development setting. Experience in a classroom or technical/vocational setting highly preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, encompassing racial disparity, socio-economic disparity, and cultural disparity.
- Display of genuine passion and unwavering commitment towards fostering the success of students.
Familiarity with tools, equipment, and safety protocols in the assigned CTE field.
Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
Ability to manage time, multitask, and adapt to dynamic classroom environments.
- Exemplary punctuality, ensuring timely attendance and adherence to established schedules.
- Proficiency in communication skills, enabling effective and articulate interaction with students, colleagues, and interested parties.
- Ability to comfortably commute to the designated location.
