UCLA ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES DEPARTMENT OPEN POSITIONS: PART-TIME LECTURERS (NON-SENATE) 2023-2024

The Department of Asian American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), invites applications for part-time Lecturer positions (Non-Senate) with primary responsibility in teaching interdisciplinary courses in Asian American Studies for the 2023-2024 academic year. Appointments are usually per course, on a quarter by quarter basis. The UCLA Department of Asian American Studies offers a major, minor, a Pilipino Studies minor, a graduate concentration, and a Master of Arts.
Academic appointment dates are as follows: Winter Quarter (January 1-March 31, 2024), and Spring Quarter (April 1-June 30, 2024). Actual instruction dates can be different.
Salary commensurate with applicant qualifications and experience; percentage of appointment commensurate with teaching load. See Table 15, Unit 18 Faculty Pre-Six - AY (ucop.edu) for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position $66,259 - $83,935.
We are interested in any Asian American Studies class that would complement our curriculum, but are especially looking for applicants who can teach courses that satisfy our major/minor requirement of Global and Transnational Perspectives:
Asian Americans and War (Asia Am 111)
Cultures of/against Empire (Asia Am 123)
Critical Issues in US-China Relations (Asia Am 171A)
Critical Issues in US-Japan Relations (Asia Am 171B)
Critical Issues in US-Korea Relations (Asia Am 171C)
Critical Issues in US-Vietnam Relations (Asia Am 171E)
Gender in South Asian Communities at Home and Abroad (Asia Am 172B)
Transnational Bollywood (Asia Am 172C)
Special Courses in Transnationalism and Diasporas (Asia Am 174B)
Requirements: Applicants with a Ph.D. are preferred. Applicants who are advanced to Ph.D. candidacy or who have a M.A., M.F.A., or equivalent may be considered (currently enrolled UC students are not considered).
