Job Description
Position OverviewUndergraduate Teaching Fellows (UGTFs) will support faculty instructors with active student engagement in undergraduate engineering courses. Undergraduate Teaching Fellows will guide learning by interacting with students, working through problem sets, or other activities. Time outside the regular class periods will be utilized to meet with the instructor, facilitate help sessions, and grade.
Courses available for UGTF positions include, but are not limited to:
35% Help faculty administer activities such as group work, problem solving, etc., for improving student learning and engagement in key engineering courses.
15% Prepare for class by reviewing in-class activities beforehand, to ensure understanding and ability to explain.
10% Meet and tutor students in groups in and outside of class.Required Qualifications
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.Additional Candidate InstructionsA complete application consists of the online application, cover letter, and resume. - Must have taken the specified course or an equivalent class and earned at least a ‘B’ in the course.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated mastery of course content.
- The job requires physical presence in the class (approximately 3 hours/week for a 3 credit course) and 2.5 hours/week outside of the class.
- Teaching/Tutoring/Grading experience at a university/college setting.Earned an ‘A’ in course.Student is in good academic standing.
