Essential Job Duties:

This position is responsible for overall project management for assigned projects. The position will be responsible for all phases of project management including project initiation (including drafting RFP documents in coordination with procurement), managing the departmental procurement process, managing consultants/contractors and coordination with key collaborators, extensive stakeholder relations, quality and budget control and ensuring full execution of the project to meet stated objectives.

Project topics will be varied, but will include construction, real estate and other infrastructure systems related projects and initiatives.

Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm (20 hours per week)

Minimum Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of technical training and/or extensive experience in construction, design, finance, and management required.
  • Experience in project management in business, finance, real estate, or construction settings is necessary.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.

Department Required Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with construction, real estate, or physical plant projects is necessary, but the role does not require engineering or other technical backgrounds.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all activities for the projects assigned to ensure objectives are accomplished within prescribed funding and scheduling parameters.
  • Monitor and control project(s) budget and schedule.
  • Establish and execute project work plans.
  • Maintain open communication channels with stakeholders, consultants/contractors, collaborators, and clients.
  • Serve as the project representative at required project meetings or hearings and prepare documentation, as necessary.
  • Perform in-depth review of all essential elements of projects assigned to identify challenges to mitigate or opportunities to realize.
  • Regularly monitor the project work to ensure adherence to the project plan and schedule.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Anticipated Hiring Range:

$50-$60/hour; dependent upon experience.
