Job Summary

The School of Arts & Sciences seeks a dynamic candidate for a temporary, non-tenure-track faculty position in Biology. This is a 5-month contract expected to begin January 1, 2026.

Responsibilities


-Develop and Teach a variety of courses in biology ranging from general education courses to upper-division courses for Biological Sciences and Environmental Science majors.
-Maintain on-campus office hours; prepare lesson plans, syllabi (including course objectives), lectures, and other course materials such as quizzes and exams; and submit final grades and attendance reports on time.
-Some online teaching may be required, as needed
-Travel may be required to fulfill instructional or service duties, including to the Brunswick Campus or the Camden Center location.
-Commitment to high-impact educational practices.
-Perform related work as required.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
-M.S. in Biology or a closely related discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Biology or closely related fields.

Other Required Qualifications
-Commitment to highly effective/engaging science education.
-Commitment to implementing experiential learning and high-impact educational practices in the classroom, lab, and/or field.

Required Experience
-Successful teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
-Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related discipline.

Preferred Experience
-Experience in coastal and marine ecology.
-Experience with in-person and online/hybrid instruction.
-Recent experience teaching college-level courses in biology.
-Experience mentoring undergraduate research.
-Experience developing and implementing innovative pedagogy.
