DescriptionThe Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Swarthmore College invites applications for a visiting position in Anthropology at the Assistant Professor level starting fall 2026. We are seeking applicants who specialize in the anthropology of Latin America and/or Latinas in the Americas, with a focus in legal anthropology and interest in teaching Ethnographic Methods. The teaching load is 2 courses per semester.

Qualifications

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Anthropology in hand by August 2026, a passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students of diverse backgrounds, and the potential for impactful scholarship.

The teaching statement should describe the applicant’s interests in teaching at an undergraduate institution, previous teaching experience, and approach to teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds. The research statement should describe the applicant’s program of research (including research interests, recent and current research, and anticipated areas for future work).
