The Network Planning & Operations (NPO) intern will support key performance and planning initiatives across the Operating department. NPO oversees train scheduled and strategic planning for crews, locomotives, railcars, track, and terminals, as well as managing key performance indicators (KPIs) and evaluations. As part of the Operations Evaluation team, you'll contribute to projects that serve a wide range of stakeholders including Operating, Tech, Marketing & Sales, Finance, Law, executive leadership and regulators. These projects include developing and maintaining performance metrics, regulatory reporting, strategic initiatives, recurring updates, and annual goal setting. As an intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in data analytics and project management. You'll regularly collaborate with business partners and leadership, build self-service reports and visualizations, answer metric-related questions, and perform ad-hoc analyses to support decision making. The position will be administered as a year-round internship at Union Pacific's headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. The work schedule is flexible and can be designed to accommodate the course commitments of the successful candidate. A flexible work schedule includes up to 40 hours per week available during the summer months and an average of 15–20 hours per week available during the academic year. The estimated wage for this position is between $21.00-$24.00 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
