The Opportunity

We seek an experienced Engineering Manager to manage our offshore team of WordPress developers. In this role, you’ll oversee day-to-day operations, manage sprint cycles, and contribute to high-level architectural decisions. Your leadership will ensure our engineering team operates effectively, meets project goals, and adheres to best practices.

 

The Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily activities and productivity of a team of offshore WordPress engineers
  • Ensure team alignment with project goals and company standards.
  • Own and manage sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and other stakeholders to establish timelines, define requirements, and prioritize tasks.
  • Track team progress, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Guide and participate in high-level architectural and design decisions.
  • Ensure code quality, security, and performance align with industry best practices.
  • Facilitate clear communication across time zones and cultural differences.
  • Address and resolve technical or operational issues as they arise.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance team efficiency and collaboration.
  • Stay updated on WordPress developments, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
  • Encourage the adoption of new tools and technologies that can improve team performance and deliverables.

 

The Qualifications

  • 5+ years in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven experience with WordPress development, including themes, plugins, and customizations.
  • Strong background in Agile methodologies, particularly managing remote or offshore teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across time zones.
  • Proficient in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana) and version control systems (e.g., Github).
  • Familiarity with web technologies (PHP, JavaScript, CSS) and a solid understanding of WordPress architecture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
  • Strategic mindset with attention to detail and commitment to quality.
