JOB DESCRIPTION

1st Shift Assembler

The 1st Shift Assembler is responsible for the manufacturing of fixtures, signage, displays, and other products designed and produced by the company. The finished work must be completed on time and meet safety and quality standards. This role may involve working on more complex or larger assembly projects and taking a lead role in resolving production, quality, and safety issues. The Shift Assembler may also serve as the lead installer for certain on-site installations and support inventory control, packing, shipping, clean-up, and other administrative duties as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble components according to work orders and bills of materials, ensuring accuracy using tape measures to verify part dimensions.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools, including drills, table saws, and chop saws.
  • Build assembly kits by gathering, counting, and packaging required parts per BOM.
  • Ensure all components and documentation are complete and ready for production or shipment.
  • Perform mechanical assembly with minimal supervision, reading and interpreting bills of materials and work instructions accurately.
  • Apply transferable skills from carpentry or cabinetry backgrounds to production tasks.
  • Perform basic electrical assembly tasks, including soldering, wire stripping, and organizing connectors.
  • Complete plug-and-play electrical assemblies, including LED connectors and cable management.
  • Serve as a technical resource on the production floor, applying strong mechanical expertise to complex or custom assemblies.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in assembly and production techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, blueprints, and construction documents.
  • Experience using hand and power tools effectively.
  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly and electrical tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Job tenure of at least 8 months, ideally closer to a year or more.
  • Experience in carpentry or cabinetry is beneficial.
  • Ability to serve as a highly experienced assembler and technical resource.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a typical manufacturing facility, which can be noisy with occasional strong smells of glue and fumes. The hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with summer hours extending to 4:00 PM. Overtime is available on a voluntary basis. The dress code includes jeans, casual shirts, closed-toe shoes, and safety glasses.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middleton, WI.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
