We are seeking dedicated professionals who can expertly navigate federal guidelines to develop and implement effective 504 plans empowering students to thrive both academically and personally. Join us in fostering an inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:The Section 504 Coordinator supports student programs through the Department of Student Services. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and maintain a caseload of Section 504 Plans for qualified students with disabilities. The Coordinator will be assigned to multiple schools and will need to work closely with building staff to identify and receive referrals communicate with parents schedule meetings evaluate eligibility coordinate services share plans with teachers and oversee the program in the school.DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS:Develop and implement procedures to identify and locate students who are disabled according to Section 504Disseminate information about Section 504 to parents and school staffDevelop and implement Section 504 Plans for eligible studentsCollect and maintain all Section 504 data on students with Section 504 Plans in assigned buildingsServe as a resource person to explain Section 504 and promote complianceParticipate as a member of the Student Assistance Programming Team as neededAssist in the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention PlansAssist the Supervisor of School Counseling and Section 504 in developing and conducting in-service training for school staffMaintain open communication with students parents principals and the Director of Student Services & SafetyDemonstrate an understanding of applicable local state and federal educational laws regulations policies and requirementsCreate and maintain an inclusive supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all studentsCommunicate effectively with strong written verbal presentation and interpersonal skillsEngage and collaborate effectively with parents and familiesCollaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environmentDemonstrate dependability punctuality and reliability in fulfilling responsibilitiesMaintain an unquestionable degree of confidentialityPerform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Services & SafetyQUALIFICATIONS:Hold a bachelors degree in Education or related fieldHold or immediately be eligible for a Virginia teaching licenseThree years of successful experience as a teacherDemonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students teachers and parentsKnowledge of Tier 1 2 and 3 accommodations and discipline procedures for students with disabilitiesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Endorsement in Special EducationPrior familiarity and experience with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973Familiarity with the PCG Education Virginia IEP System.Masters degree in Educational Leadership from an accredited institutionPost Graduate Professional license with administration and supervision endorsementSALARY: $61024.32 - $104758.22 annually with benefits; commensurate with experienceFLSA Status: ExemptBENEFITS:Anthem Medical Plans - Multiple options available for comprehensive medical and prescription coverageAmeritas Vision Plan - Coverage includes eye exams lenses frames and contact lensesDelta Dental Plan - FREE Delta Dental coverage for employees spouses and familiesCarilion EAP - FREE Confidential Employee Assistance Program providing support for mental health legal financial concerns and crisis support available to employees and their familiesGenerous Employee Leave Benefits - MCPS offers leave benefits for PT and FT employees including paid sick leave personal leave funeral leave and annual leave.
