Temporary HighSchool CounselorLocation:ParkroseHigh School 2025-2026 School Year *Salary Range:$53647 - $104646 PLUS employer paid retirement and generous benefits package packageHours: 40 hours per weekDays: 197 days per year(based on full work calendar year) Deadline:Open Until Filled; Applications received by December 11 2025 will be given first consideration.Overview: The position of counselor is to provide services to meet the needs of students; consult with teachers staff and parents to enhance effectiveness in helping students; and to provide support to other school educational programs. The position of counselor performs under the supervision of a principal or other designated supervisor and has responsibility for the instruction and supervision of students. Supervision of students shall include guidance development and safety. The counselor functions in accordance with District approved curriculum policies rules regulations and the performance standards of the District/State and the performance goals established for the counselor. The counselor maintains a cooperative attitude with staff parents and students. Parkrose expects counselors to be aware of and maintain The competent educator standards found in the Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR ) which is attached to this job description.Job Requirements:A valid Oregon teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) is required upon hiring. Applicants with culturally diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.Position DetailsEssential Job Responsibilities:Provides leadership and participates on the schools Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS team.Designs and implements strategic (yellow zone) behavior interventions.Tracks and monitors student attendance and provides leadership to data teams tracking and analyzing attendance.Designs delivers evaluates and revises a planned sequential developmentally appropriate program to include lessons in social emotional learning personal and academic goal-setting and career development.Delivers curriculum in systematic manner to all students.Facilitates instructional process in collaboration with school staff and community resources.Provides behavioral and emotional support to students to promote academic growth.Serves as a community liaison to connect families to school and family resources.Communicates course goals and academic expectations to studentsProvides for the health and safety of students in all instructional settingsSupervises students both in and out of the classroom. For non- teachers the experience must be related to the District assignment. Substitute teaching shall not be counted unless it was done on a full-time contract basis. Supervision and Evaluation (1) The competent educator is a student of human behavior and uses this knowledge to provide a climate that is conducive to learning and that respects the rights of all persons without discrimination. The competent educator assumes responsibility for the activities planned and conducted through the districts program and assists colleagues to do the same.
