POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Academic Support Coach DEPARTMENT: Calvary Christian Academy
REPORTS TO: ESE Coordinator / ESE Director
STATUS: Non-Exempt; 10-Month Full-Time Hourly Calendar

Purpose Statement:
The Academic Support teacher works to meet the unique needs of a specific student. The assistant co-labors with the teacher and parents to disciple the student, spiritually, academically and socially.
Scope:
The assistant interacts with the classroom teacher, staff, faculty, church staff and parents to meet the needs of the student. This may include assisting the student in daily living skills.

Scope:
The assistant interacts with the classroom teacher, staff, faculty, church staff and parents to meet the needs of the student. This may include assisting the student in daily living skills.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Adhere to specified professional dress.
- Supervise the student during class lessons and seatwork as needed.
- Help reinforce skills and give personalized assistance when needed.
- Escort the student throughout the school day as needed.
- Provide prayer and Godly counsel when needed.
- Assist with behavior management.
- Assist teachers with the student as requested.
- Assist with organization of student's daily folders and assignments.
- Ascertain priorities for assignments to be completed.
- Help student set goals for completion of work.
- Assist student with daily living skills as needed.
- Make copies and prepare materials for lessons and special activities as requested by the teacher.
- Monitor student's progress and communicate with ESE Coordinator.
- Instruct student with study skills as needed.
- Communicate with teachers about student's assignments, priorities and required accommodations as based on testing results.
- Advocate for student's unique situations
- Re-teach a lesson as necessary
- Provide test/assignments accommodations
- Participate in parent-teacher conference as needed.
- Keep up with correspondence in and out of house by way of email and mailbox in office.
- Other tasks as assigned by teacher.
- Supervise children at morning drop-off, in cafeteria during lunchtime, and at afternoon pick-up as needed
- Serve under administrative direction as need arises.
Qualifications/Skills/Gifts:
- A strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ
- A strong commitment to the philosophies and mission of Calvary Chapel as well as the educational philosophies of Calvary Christian Academy
- Excellent interpersonal skills with regard to children, their parents, and colleagues
- Love for children and a desire to see that they have a right relationship with Jesus Christ
- The fruits of the Spirit
- Two years of college education is preferred.
- Completion of level two servant requirements, working towards level four
- Computer skills
- Ability to complete projects on time and follow through efficiently
- Ability to communicate goals
- Ability to work with confidential information
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Good listening skills
- Time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task
- Decision-making and judgment skills
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs
