Our team solves tough meaningful problems that create a safer more secure world.Job SummaryThe Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. From preliminary concepts to fielded weapon system support MA&T delivers innovative structural and thermal engineering solutions utilizing methods ranging from classical fundamental & empirically based techniques to state-of-the-art finite element methods leveraging industry leading commercial tools; all complimented and validated by tests executed in a manner to ensure cost effective yet technically balanced solutions.As an intern in the Analysis and Test Department you will be working one on one with a senior engineer tackling structural and thermal analysis tasks that will give you a great hands-on learning experience. You will be responsible for performing the analyses/tests getting the results peer-reviewed and documenting the results in a report.You will finish your internship with the satisfaction of knowing you contributed to the success of the Analysis and Test Department as well as Raytheon in general!What You Will DoPerform hand calculations and determine requirements for higher order detailed analysisPerform detailed structural/thermal analyses to solve challenging problemsPerform peer reviews of all analysis to validate process and resultsDeliver results to customersGenerate detailed archival technical reportsWhat You Will LearnHow to work as part of an Integrated Product Team collaborating with other engineering disciplines to solve challenging technical problems for our customersHow thermal engineering is conducted in an innovative industry setting through comprehensive department-sponsored training and mentoring from senior staffQualifications You Must Have This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelors (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum entering their junior year by the start of summer 2026Must be pursuing as Bachelors or graduate degree in Mechanical or Aerospace EngineeringExperience with engineering Finite Element Analysis tools and software such as ANSYS Workbench Patran Nastran and/or Thermal DesktopQualifications We Prefer ABET is the preferred although not required accreditation standard. 3.0 cumulative GPA desiredExperience with Microsoft Office programs: Word Excel Outlook PowerPointExperience utilizing CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools such as CREOExperience with problem solving using data-driven approachesHands on experience through academic or industry exposureWhat We OfferOur values drive our actions behaviors and performance with a vision for a safer more connected world.
