The selected intern is expected to report to the office up to three times per week or asdeterminedby the team.Locations(in priority order):Sunnyvale CaliforniaMountainView CaliforniaAbout The Role:As aSimulationinternyoullpartner with senior engineers to design build and launch real simulation features used daily by GM validation teams.Youllmeet customers turn their needs into clear specs deliver highquality code on our common simulation platform and measure your impact. Customerslikely includeHardware/Software in the Loop teams as well as Autonomous Vehicle software and test authors.AboutThe Team:The GM AV Simulation team builds world-class testing and analysis related products and technologies to enable GM to acceleratedevelopmentof autonomous vehicles as well as general vehicle software development. Our customers range from AV developers understanding the effects of their code on vehicle behavior data engineers using our data pipelines togenerate meaningfulinsights for various evaluation needs to the release team tracking top-line performance metrics on releases. AV Simulation aims to deliver intuitive user experiences for robotics and AI engineers that accelerate GM towards a driverless future.WhatYoullDo:Quickly ramp up on assigned codebase product area and/or system.Meet withyour customers to learn about what they do and how you will help.Complete assigned tasks efficiently with few iterations.Develop test and deploy production-ready code across components of our simulation infrastructure.Identifyproblem statements outlineoptimalsolutions account for tradeoffs and edge casesParticipate in code reviews technical discussions and design resign.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless software integrationCommunicate effectively across multiple stakeholders.Draw in senior developers to help when needed.Qualifications:Currently enrolled in a full-time degree-seeking program andin the process of obtainingabachelors degree in computer science or a related field.Experience coding in Pythonor C.Able to workfulltime40 hoursper week.Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated software engineering experience frompreviousinternships work experience coding competitions or publications.Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.Abackgroundin robotics ROS or the AV/ADAS industry.Experience with data pipelines/workflows supporting data scientists.Experience building high quality dev productivity tools.Experience developing high-quality software under significant latency and performance constraints.Experience developing or working with safety-critical code.Intent to return todegree-programafter the completion of the internship.Compensation:The monthly salary range for this role is $8600 per monthGM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2026 Student Program.Whatyoullget from us (Benefits):Paid US GM HolidaysGM Family First Vehicle Discount ProgramResult-based potential for growth within GMIntern events to network with company leaders and peers
