Join Roche where every voice matters.The Position2026 Summer Intern Sustainment EngineeringWe advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love.Department SummaryThe Department of Sustainment Engineering is responsible for driving toward exceptional equipment performance to support a 24-hour Operation at GenMark Diagnostics for the ePlex system to improve patient care with multiplex molecular diagnostics. Our growing infectious disease menu includes respiratory pathogen and blood culture panels that provide early identification to help improve patient outcomes.This internship position is located in Carlsbad CA on siteThe OpportunityOwnership of an impactful project that improves performance using principles of Lean Six Sigma to reduce process variation and driving work standardization and flow.Final presentation near the conclusion of internship to senior leaders.Program HighlightsIntensive 12-weeks full time (40 hours per week) paid internshipProgram start dates are in May/June (Summer)A stipend based on location will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.Who You Are(Required)Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree.Must have attained a Bachelors degree (recent graduates not currently enrolled in a grad program).Must be pursuing a Masters degree.Must have attained a Masters degree.Required Majors: Mechanical Engineering Electrical/Electronic Engineering Computer Engineering Robotics Engineering Electromechanical Engineering Mechatronics Engineering Industrial Engineering Control Systems Engineering Instrumentation Engineering Automation Engineering Chemical Engineering Biomedical Engineering Process Engineering Physics.Required Skills:Basic understanding of systematic troubleshooting principles.Must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.Must be able to complete work in a timely accurate and thorough manner.Must be efficient organized and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment.Willingness to learn and ask questions.Ability to work methodically document findings and follow regulated processes.Foundational understanding of electronics mechanical systems or mechatronics.Ability to approach problems analytically and interpret data.Interest in equipment troubleshooting and hands-on technical work.Preferred Knowledge Skills and Qualifications:Demonstrated proficiency in the application of basic engineering and/or scientific theories principles and techniques.Possess strong analytical skills plus technical and mechanical aptitude.Proficiency with Google Suite.Excellent communication collaboration and interpersonal skills.Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity Courage and Passion.Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location ofCarlsbad CA is $23.00-$35.00 per hour.
