Make minor adjustments repairs and replacements in connection with this addition keep equipment buildings and grounds in a neat and orderly condition.Job Qualifications Must meet the Companys General Requirements; and in addition:Successfully completed the Substation Operators portion of the pre-employment test except that an employee hired prior to May 1 1983 who has or obtains a high school diploma or its equivalent does not have to complete the pre-employment test.Able to follow instructions and perform routine operations.Have mechanical possess keen faculties of observation.Have the ability to learn:The making of simple diagrams and principle of electricity and the purpose and functioning of substation receive and execute orders with accuracy and identification and use of materials tools and equipment commonly used in the work.Have the ability to complete satisfactorily the Company courses in Fundamentals of Electricity - Direct Current and Alternating Current.Qualify for an auto drivers license to operate motor vehicles in State of New Jersey.Have the physical and mental characteristics necessary to be able to proceed quickly and safely from one assigned station to another under all conditions of traffic and weather.Capable of operating any assigned station customers substation or pole type equipment.Know and understand the operating sequence of the automatic equipment and understand the difference in operation of the various stations.Knowledge of the function and operation of the electrical and mechanical equipment in the stations in the area assigned.Ability to diagnose and promptly correct unusual operating difficulties whether present or not present at the time of the development of the difficulty.Knowledge of the Substation Operating Manual including the safety rules and practices set forth in this manual; must have a thorough working knowledge of the procedures covering the ordering out tagging and releasing of circuits and equipment.Knowledge of the functions of the transmission and distribution system and of the relationship of the various departments charged with their operation.Some positions at PSEG require access to information covered by the Department of Energys regulation 10 CFR 810 (Part 810). If applicable the successful applicant must prove they are: (1) a citizen or national of the USA; OR (2) a lawful permanent resident of the United States (Non-Conditional Permanent I-551 / Green Card / Permanent Resident Card holder); OR (3) a citizen national or permanent resident of a Generally Authorized destination on theattached list not also a citizen national permanent resident of any country not listed; OR (4) a Protected Individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act (8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3)).As an employee of PSEG you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations.For all roles PSEGs drug and alcohol testing program includes pre-employment testing testing for cause and post-incident/accident testing.Employees who are hired or transfer into a federally regulated role (including positions covered by USDOT PHMSA or NRC regulations) are subject to random drug and alcohol testing inclusive of marijuana. Although numerous states throughout the country have legalized marijuana/cannabis products recreationally and medically the use of these products are prohibited for employees in federally regulated roles.
