Job Description: Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Custodial Services, the Custodian performs a variety of manual custodial and maintenance duties to provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Performs related work as required. Demonstrates responsible use of proper cleaning methods and materials in performing duties.

Essential Job Functions

1. Clean and sanitize restroom fixtures, hardware, tile, mirrors, partitions, floors, and the like, replacing restroom supplies as needed, including locker rooms if an assigned building.
2. Dust, sweep, vacuum, and/or mop floors as necessary. Scrub/strip, extract, bonnet and maintain floors.
3. Wash and clean windows/windowsills/window treatments.
4. Clean furniture.
5. Replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes as needed (not exceeding 6 feet in height without Fall Protection training).
6. Clean all tools, supplies, and equipment after each use and store them in the proper place.
7. Maintain building supply inventory, email notification, submit/fulfill work orders, and time entry reports.
8. Identify necessary repairs to facilities and/or equipment, taking time to fix and/or reporting any deficiencies to the appropriate person(s). Respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. property damage, vandalism, alarms, etc.), taking appropriate action.
9. Maintain the security of the building(s). Turn off lights when not in use, secure windows/doors per building needs, and check the entire building for fire hazards.
10. Sweep exterior walkways. Remove snow from entrances and steps of buildings (reasonable distance).
11. Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices to prevent injury and illness for self and others.
12. Attend all Environmental Health and Safety trainers to ensure safe operations.
13. Assist in special furniture set-ups for college-sponsored functions.
14. Relieve, assist, or fill in temporarily on other jobs as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications: Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

• A High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Prior experience or knowledge sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job successfully is also required.

Physical Demands: Physical Requirements

1. Ability to move self in different positions to accomplish tasks.
2. Ability to safely lift, push, and pull or otherwise move up to 50 pounds.
3. Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment as required.
4. Potential for occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, or other infectious/hazardous materials.
