Position Summary:The Facilities Operations Manager oversees the daily operations maintenance and management of airport facilities infrastructure. This role leads a team of maintenance technicians custodial staff and support personnel to ensure safe efficient and compliant facility operations that support airport functionality and enhance passenger experience. The position requires coordination with multiple stakeholders including airlines concessionaires government agencies and contractors.Key Responsibilities:Team Leadership & ManagementSupervise and manage a team of 7-10 direct reports including maintenance technicians custodial team members.Conduct performance evaluations provide coaching and development opportunities and manage disciplinary actionsDevelop work schedules assign tasks and ensure appropriate staffing levels across all shiftsLead safety meetings and ensure team compliance with airport safety protocols and OSHA requirementsFacilities OperationsOversee maintenance and operation of HVAC electrical plumbing and mechanical systems throughout terminal and airside facilitiesManage preventive maintenance programs for all building systems and equipmentCoordinate emergency response procedures and after-hours facilities issuesMonitor building automation systems and energy management programsEnsure compliance with FAA regulations TSA security requirements and local building codesBudget & Resource ManagementDevelop and manage annual facilities operations budget of $3-5 millionReview and approve work orders purchase requisitions and contractor invoicesNegotiate and oversee service contracts with external vendors and contractorsTrack and report on key performance indicators including response times work order completion rates and budget varianceStakeholder CoordinationInterface with airline representatives concessionaires and airport authority personnel on facilities mattersCoordinate with airport operations center on facilities-related operational impactsWork with security teams to ensure maintenance activities comply with airport security protocolsParticipate in airport emergency response exercises and actual emergency situationsCompliance & DocumentationMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities inspections and compliance certificationsEnsure facilities meet ADA accessibility requirements and fire safety codesCoordinate regulatory inspections and address any compliance deficienciesDevelop and update standard operating procedures for facilities operationsRequired Qualifications:Education & ExperienceBachelors degree in Engineering Facilities Management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum 5 years of facilities management experience preferably in aviation healthcare or other critical infrastructure environment3 years of supervisory experience managing technical teamsTechnical SkillsStrong knowledge of building systems including HVAC electrical plumbing and fire safety systemsFamiliarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)Understanding of building automation systems and energy managementKnowledge of relevant codes and regulations (OSHA building codes FAA requirements)Leadership & CommunicationProven ability to lead and develop diverse teams in a 24/7 operational environmentStrong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressureExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and manage competing prioritiesPreferred Qualifications:Professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facilities Management Professional (FMP)Experience in airport or aviation facilities managementProject management certification or experienceBilingual capabilitiesPhysical Requirements:Ability to walk extensive distances throughout airport facilitiesOccasional lifting up to 50 poundsAbility to work in various environmental conditions including mechanical rooms and outdoor areasAvailability for emergency response outside regular business hoursWorking Conditions:Airport environment with exposure to aircraft noise and jet fuel odors24/7 operational facility requiring occasional evening weekend and holiday coverageFast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing prioritiesSecurity clearance requirements including background check and SIDA badge eligibilityLocation: LAX AirportSalary: 3rd shift: 9:00 PM - 5:30 AMThis position offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development within a dynamic airport environment.This position does not provide visa sponsorship.
