Your contribution will directly support resident care, team communication, and smooth daily operations.Position SummaryThe LPN/Unit Secretary plays a key role in supporting our nursing team. As an LPN, you’ll provide high-quality, resident-centered clinical care in accordance with Maine Veterans’ Home values and standards. As a Unit Secretary, you’ll use your organizational and communication skills to support the flow of information, maintain records, and ensure the unit runs efficiently.This combined role ensures you are engaged in both direct care and supportive administrative functions as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesAs an LPN:Provide compassionate, professional nursing care to residents.Administer medications, treatments, and assessments per LPN scope.Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support resident care plans.Advocate for and support the unique needs of Maine Veterans in our Small House ModelAdministrative / Unit Secretary Duties:Serve as the primary communication hub for the nursing unit.Respond promptly and professionally to resident, family, staff, and provider inquiries.Maintain and organize resident charts, documents, and electronic records.Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring all paperwork and communication are accurate and timely.Coordinate with multiple departments (nursing, therapy, dietary, housekeeping, etc.) to support efficient resident-centered care.Provide transportation of residents to appointments as neededPerform general clerical duties such as filing, scheduling, ordering supplies, and tracking unit documentation.Serve as a communication hub between nursing staff, residents, families, and departments.Requirements:Current Maine LPN license in good standingCollaborative work styleExcellent observational skillsExcellent time management skillsCommitment to achieving excellencePassion for continuous improvementRequires proficiency in spoken and written English.Ability to understand and respond to residents’ needs and inquiries in English is required.Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally and in writing, in English, is required.Basic computer skillsMaine Veterans’ Homes provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
