Job Summary/Objective

This job is primarily responsible for working at Atalco loading barges. This is a general position that performs a wide variety of duties that are based on the daily needs of the operation.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities include:

o are responsible for drafting barges.

securing barges with ropes/winch cables.

opening and closing hatch covers.

washing loaded barges of product dusting.

for replacing winch cables when they need to be replaced.

Deckhands are responsible for greasing winches/cables.

Deckhands are responsible for care of water pumps on dock.

Deckhands are responsible for general preventative maintenance of winches and cables.

Deckhands are responsible for general housekeeping duties on dock.

Education/Training Requirements

Highschool diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred - 1 year of experience, certifications, specific industry experience, specific qualifications for the role.

Work Environment

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift/push/pull 45 lbs. occasionally.

Ability to climb, crouch, stoop, bend, and squat, frequently.

Ability to stand and walk constantly/continuously.

Ability to balance constantly/continuously.

Ability to kneel occasionally.

Ability to safely walk on barge surface(s) with the ability to work around deep water.

Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over two-way radio.
