Job Description

Job SummaryResponsible for providing educational guidance and assistance for students by understanding their educational goals while recognizing their strengths. Help students examine programs offered, plan schedules, and provide follow-up when necessary. Serve as an advocate for the student in helping to overcome issues, extending encouragement in adjusting to the demands of college life, and providing referrals to other University departments as appropriate.Primary ResponsibilitiesProvide students with information regarding major programs available, University policies, general education requirements, major requirements, course pre-requisites, and policies which may also involve orientation activities and workshops, worksheets, and program guides.Assist students in completing their Major Academic Plan (MAP) and provide counseling regarding sequencing and scheduling choices and graduation requirements.Assist students in the use of the campus mapping tool (MAPPER), and periodically check student progress to ensure student is following the plan.Track student's progress toward graduation by approving graduation applications, completing major evaluations for department review, assisting Registrar's Office in double-checking General Education requirements.Evaluate student's credits from other school to determine what courses transfer and submit substitution, waiver, equivalency, and General Education proposals to proper department for review and approval.Perform other duties as assigned.EducationBachelors (Required)MastersWork ExperienceTwo years relevant experiencePhysical DemandsAir conditioned office environment with minimal physical effort required.
