OverviewTouro University Worldwide (TUW) is seeking a motivated bright and personable individual to join our student advisor team. The Academic/Educational Advisor provides a high level of service assisting new and matriculating students from initial enrollment activities and assistance in programs related to retention and persistence to graduation which includes academic advising retention and at-risk students. Built upon TUWs Robust Learning Model this position utilizes a high tech/high touch approach to understand the students needs determine how to assist the students to meet their educational goals and recommend/assist the student in registration for the appropriate courses. The successful candidate must be results-oriented student centric and have strong communication and listening skills. This individual must also be a team player as the position will be required to collaborate with colleagues department heads and other TUW employees. This position is a direct report to the Director of Academic Advising. This position will be hired for either the Hawaii office or Los Alamitos campus depending on candidate location.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and update degree plans for studentsProvides academic advising to students Provide academic advising appointment times for students as neededEvaluate transcripts for transfer credits and equivalent coursesContact students via email phone chat and/or text as applicableReviews university resources/materials to better assist studentsQuick learner that can easily adapt to TUWs Robust Learning Model (RLM) and proprietary Integrated Campus System platformAssists with retention and registration effortsOther duties as assigned by Director of Academic Advising and/or ProvostQualificationsA minimum of a Bachelors degree Masters degree preferred from an accredited university or collegeKnowledge within Marriage and Family Therapy Social Work and or Clinical Counseling is an added plus At least three years of related experienceResults Oriented and Student-CentricStrong Interpersonal Skills (Communication Listening etc.)Team PlayerAbility to collaborate with other departments and team membersPhysical job location can be at either our Hawaii location or Los Alamitos location. Depending on Candidate quaifications and location.
