Job Title:Academic Success and Support SpecialistDepartment:Undergraduate Education | University Honors and ScholarsThe Academic Support Specialist will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Honors Peer Mentorship Program. This role involves recruiting and training student mentors, coordinating with college Honors Directors, managing program logistics, and ensuring alignment with the University Honors Standards helping students to obtain honors program completion. Mentors will concentrate on providing support in areas such as navigating college honors resources, community building within the college/major, exploring leadership opportunities, and enhancing personal and professional development. The Academic Support Specialist, plans, coordinates, and implements professional development support for Honors Peer Mentors across 16 College Programs and three regional campus programs. Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development-60%Plans, coordinates, and implements professional development support for Honors Peer Mentors across 16 College Programs and three regional campus programs. The development support is designed to align with expectations and outcomes in the unified University Honors Program Standards in collaboration with the College Honors Program LeadershipDesign and implement mentor recruitment and training processes.Develop and deliver training modules on mentoring skills such as active listening, communication, problem-solving, goal setting, networking, and facilitation.Coordinate with the Honors Directors from 16 college Honors programs and 3 regional programs to determine needs and to ensure consistent program delivery.Monitor mentor-mentee family engagement and provide ongoing support.Organize program events such as kickoff mixers, check-ins, and networking nights for smaller college programs who are unable to facilitate such eventsAdvised student leaders in the group.Monitors Program expensesProgram Administration Assist in the implementation of the best practices regarding ePortfolio participationStakeholder Development-20%Assists the University Honors Program leaders by cultivating relationships with campus partners specifically the 16 Honors Program Director and 3 regional campusesIdentifying new opportunities for collaboration to support academic excellenceProgram Operations-10%Create and manage necessary agreements, documentation, and system updates to support both the pilot and ongoing phases of the Honors Peer Mentorship programPrioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects, escalating issues to appropriate committees or leadership as needed.Collaborate with university offices to deliver enriching academic and community-building experiences.Collect and analyze feedback from mentors and mentees to improve program effectiveness.Additional Duties-10%Supporting Presidential Ohio Scholarship Program students through recruitment, selection, and retention efforts to the University Honors and Scholars programs.
