We embrace new perspectives and listen with humility.Everything we do we do together.Position Overview The Accounting Manager is responsible for performing financial tasks processing financial records and managing financial activities according to standardized accounting principles and Library policies. The work involves performance of bookkeeping entries data analysis and related tasks within clearly defined limits.This position assists the Accountant in providing support and direction regarding accounting policies and functions to all library departments and branches and to the Finance team. The Accounting Manager acts in the absence of the Accountant under the direction of the Finance Director.Candidates who are invited to phone screen for this position will be asked to take a brief assessment prior to their scheduled date/time.Essential FunctionsDevelops and communicates internal Accounting department practices and procedures to the Accounting teamPrepares and processes all disbursements and maintains corresponding documentationReceives verifies and approves Finance Department invoices.Tracks Finance Department expenses approves direct reports expense reports generates Departments account activity and budgetary reports on demand as neededAdministers the Library credit card fuel card and merchant credit card purchasing programsCorresponds with vendors and responds to inquiriesServes as backup for accounts receivable and accounts payable duties when neededOversees the productivity of the Accounting department staff by setting priorities to manage workflow and approving schedules and timecardsManages the performance and development of the Accounting department staff by conducting periodic check-in sessions and conducting coaching and disciplinary meetings as neededProcesses vendor 1099 tax documents annuallyCalculates and reports sales tax payable annuallyNon-Essential FunctionsAssists in processing bank depositsWorks with IT to troubleshoot the financial systemAttends meetings in the absence of the Accountant as assignedEducation and ExperienceBachelors degree in accounting or business -
