Job Description

TNC Community is seeking a dependable detail-loving Accounting Specialist to manage AP/AR reconciliations and financial reporting for a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities.What Youll DoAs the Accounting Specialist youll support our Senior Accountant and CFO with day-to-day accounting operations. Your work ensures accurate timely financial records that keep our programs supported and our services strong.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable & ReceivableProcess invoices payments and receipts with accuracy and attention to detail.Maintain current AP/AR records monitor outstanding accounts and resolve billing issues.Prepare daily deposits monthly billing and assist with invoices to DMH county boards funders and private payees.Reconciliation & ReportingPerform monthly reconciliations including bank accounts credit cards petty cash fixed assets and program expenses.Assist in preparing financial statements balance sheets budget recommendations and reports for leadership review.Help maintain depreciation schedules and support annual financial audits.Financial Support for Individuals ServedManage personal funds accounts for individuals receiving services including deposits documentation monitoring balances and processing approved money requests.Ensure accuracy and compliance in ISL budget tracking and quarterly reporting.General Accounting SupportProduce checks when needed.Respond to vendor inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.Assist with payroll processing when the Senior Accountant is unavailable.Maintain administrative files (insurance registrations real estate).Collaborate with office and program teams to ensure smooth compliant operations.Why Youll Love Working HereMeaningful work with a mission-driven nonprofitSupportive team environmentOpportunities for learning growth and professional developmentStability structure and clear expectationsA workplace that values diversity equity and inclusionWhat Were Looking ForRequired QualificationsAssociate or bachelors degree in accounting finance or business (degree must be verifiable).Minimum 2 years of experience in AP/AR or general accounting.Strong accuracy organization and analytical skills.Ability to communicate clearly with staff vendors and program partners.Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.Preferred QualificationsBachelors in Accounting.Experience supporting nonprofit financial operations.Additional RequirementsAbility to lift up to 25 lbs.Participation in mandatory trainings including Abuse/Neglect and Gentle Teaching.Ability to adhere to confidentiality compliance standards and ethical financial practices.Comfort working with technology financial software and calculators.About TNC CommunityTNC Community is dedicated to removing barriersarchitectural environmental attitudinal financial and moreto ensure individuals with IDD can thrive.
