Title: Accounting Specialist


General Description: The Accounting Specialist supports the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of Willis Klein Commercial's accounting and payroll functions. This role is responsible for routine accounting operations, month-end close support, reconciliations, tax-related filings, and coordination of retirement plan activities


Pay Range: $55,000 - $65,000 based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include Health, Dental, Vision, Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance along with PTO and 401(k).

Responsibilities:

  • Payroll: Process payroll accurately and on schedule, including audits for timekeeping accuracy, pay codes, deductions, and changes. Maintain payroll records and support documentation in accordance with internal controls and record retention requirements.
  • Month End Close and General Accounting: Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliation schedules. Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the consolidated trial balance and assist in maintaining clean, supportable account balances. Maintain and organize financial records, supporting schedules, and documentation for audit readiness.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Daily cash sheet. Perform bank reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances timely.
  • Sales/Use Tax: Tracking, reporting, and filings.
  • 401k/Profit Sharing: Coordinate routine items with the plan provider (e.g., contributions, census support, and reporting requests). Maintain documentation supporting retirement plan transactions and required submissions.


Qualifications:

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners
  • Organization Skills: Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-though with deadlines
  • Microsoft Excel proficient
  • Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience as determined by WKC)
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentially of sensitive information
  • General Understanding of ERP Systems
  • Construction industry experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Comsense ERP a plus
