Job titleAccounting TechnicianReports toAssistant Finance Officer / School Nutrition DirectorTerms of Employment12 MonthsSalaryGrade 63 Plus Local SupplementFLSA StatusNon-Exempt Position SummaryThe Accounting Technician provides critical support to both the Finance and School Nutrition departments through payroll processing bookkeeping accounts payable purchasing oversight and administrative support. This position ensures accurate financial records timely reporting and smooth daily operations across multiple programs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented organized and able to manage a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in Accounting Business or related field preferred.Prior experience in bookkeeping payroll or accounts payable strongly preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general financial software.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.Strong communication and customer service skills.Ability to organize prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPayroll SupportReview and adjust employee timesheets.Import daily absence data.Monitor and update leave balances.Prepare field trip driver pay quotes.Reconcile and process payments for supplemental insurance policies.Process supplemental insurance enrollments.Reconcile employee annuities and process vendor payments.Prepare deduction reports.School Nutrition Program SupportImport student data from Infinite CampusRemove withdrawn students from Meals PlusImport Direct Certification reportsUpdate school nutrition managers timesheetsEnsure all daily records are properly closed for the monthReview monthly participation reports and correct discrepanciesReview Edit Check Reports identify errors and document explanationsReview receipts and collection reports for accuracyVerify all deposits by school and reconcile with Meals Plus entriesReview over/under amounts and follow up with managers as neededInvoice outside parties for meals servedReview and key invoicesOrder office supplies and repair parts for School Nutrition operationsFront Desk SupportServe as backup for receptionist as neededPurchasing SupportManage purchasing cards including monitoring activity and reconciling monthly statements.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisorWorking ConditionsStandard office environment with frequent computer use.Occasional interruptions and deadlines requiring timely responses.Some tasks may require communication with school sites vendors and district staff.Physical RequirementsThis work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.Work regularly requires sitting speaking or hearing using hands to finger handle or feel and repetitive motions.Work occasionally requires standing walking stooping kneeling or crouching pushing or pulling and lifting.Work has standard vision requirementsVocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken work; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities.Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office light traffic).Must be able to:prepare read and comprehend a variety of job-related forms reports spreadsheetsmaps plans records documentation and correspondence in all languages required by the jobunderstand and conform to all rules of punctuation grammar diction and stylespeak to individuals or groups of people with poise voice control and confidencerespond adequately to inquiries or complaintswrite using standard convention in all languages required by the jobapply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusionsapply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagrammatic formcommunicate effectively and efficientlyuse/interpret job related terminology mathematical formulas and functions effectively and efficientlydeal with people beyond giving and receiving instructionsperform under stress deal with persons acting under stress and adapt when confronted with emergency situationsbe sensitive to cultural difference among individuals and groups of personsoperate a motor vehicleoperate/use a variety of automated office machines and other office equipmentoperate/use a variety of printing/graphic arts machinesoperate/use a variety of audiovisual/electronic machines and devicesoperate/use a variety of communication machines/equipment/devicesoperate/use a variety of job specific machines/equipmentApproved by:Personnel OfficeReviewed:11/2025Employee Signature:Disclaimer: The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
