Accounts Payable (AP) Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Controller Summary The Accounts Payable Manager leads the full-cycle AP function our client ensuring accurate and timely processing of all vendor invoices payments and expense obligations across multiple states and business units. This role oversees AP operations in a high-volume service-based environment maintaining strong internal controls and partnering closely with field operations procurement and finance to support compliance efficiency and financial integrity. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Oversight Lead mentor and develop a high-performing Accounts Payable team providing coaching training and ongoing performance feedback. Manage the full AP cycle including invoice processing coding approvals payment runs expense reimbursements corporate card administration and 1099 reporting. Establish track and report on AP KPIs to ensure accuracy timeliness and compliance. Process & Controls Develop and implement AP policies procedures and internal controls that support scalability and operational consistency across multi-state operations. Maintain vendor master data integrity including vendor onboarding W-9 management and risk assessments. Ensure adherence to approval workflows purchasing guidelines and spend policies. Financial & Operational Support Collaborate with field and corporate leaders to resolve invoice discrepancies PO issues and vendor escalations. Partner with the Controller and FP&A teams on month-end close activities including accruals variance analysis and cash flow planning. Oversee annual 1099 reporting and ensure proper tax documentation. Systems & Innovation Serve as the AP systems owner; partner with IT and Finance to optimize ERP workflows and AP automation tools. Drive process improvements to streamline operations enhance accuracy and reduce manual workload. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (preferred). 5 years of progressive AP experience including 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Experience in a multi-state service-based or field-operations-heavy environment strongly preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP vendor compliance 1099 requirements and internal control practices. Proficiency in ERP systems and AP automation tools. Strong leadership communication and problem-solving abilities.
