Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to oversee and manage financial transactions related to student accounts and receivables in Hampton, Virginia. This contract position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset. As part of the team, you will ensure compliance with institutional policies and state regulations while maintaining the accuracy of financial records.Responsibilities:• Monitor and manage student accounts to ensure accurate billing and timely collection of receivables.• Process payments, refunds, and account adjustments in alignment with institutional and state guidelines.• Reconcile accounts receivable records and generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.• Address inquiries from students, staff, and external partners regarding account balances and payment options.• Work closely with Financial Aid and Student Services to resolve discrepancies in accounts.• Maintain compliance with institutional policies, state regulations, and financial protocols.• Support audits by preparing and providing required documentation.• Identify opportunities for improving processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounts receivable operations.• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.• At least two years of experience in accounts receivable or similar accounting roles.• Familiarity with accounting software and systems; experience with Banner/Ellucian is an advantage.• Solid understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation processes.• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to analyze financial data.• Strong communication and customer service skills for managing inquiries and resolving issues.• Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
