DescriptionJob Title: ACE Course Assistant-Asian Studies Department Name: Svoboda Center for Civic EngagementContact Person/Supervisor: Alyssa Melby and Ka WongWage Range: $12.25/hourPlease upload a resume and unofficial transcript to your application.POSITION DESCRIPTIONTo assist Prof. Ka Wongs courses ASCON 220 Asian Conversations: Engaging Asia and ASIAN 123 Asia in America with logistics around scheduling hours tracking transportation and/or reflection for the courses Academic Civic Engagement (ACE) component.The ACE component of these courses will involve working with the Northfield Public Library and other community partners on a community-wide commemoration of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in early May 2026. Student teams will develop events programs and educational materials as part of this project.TRANSFERABLE SKILLSCommunicate digitally and in-person with diverse people and communitiesManage event scheduling and logisticsFacilitate reflection among and with peersDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe ACE Course Assistant will:Attend select classes of ASIAN 123 and should be prepared to attend most of the scheduled events for AAPI Heritage Month (May 1-May 11)Create relevant schedule and project management mechanism for the various aspects of the ACE componentGather and share relevant information with student teamsMeet with student teams as neededEstablish coordinate and confirm locations logistics and people with different student teamsServe as main student liaison between Northfield Public Library the ACE Office and Prof. Wongs ACE course teamsOther duties as assignedApplicants should be generally available during the class meeting time for ASCON 220 (Tu 120-245PM Th 215-335PM). Students should hold the first two Saturdays in May and all evenings May 1-10 for activities related to this work.QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Student in academic good standing. Must have completed the Asian Conversation sequence OR have completed at least one 200-level Asian Studies Chinese and/or Japanese course. Experience: Students should have some previous project management experience experience working in community engagement and/or general administrative experience.Skills: Ideal candidate would have skills in the following:Google Docs Spreadsheets FormsPhone call and email professional etiquetteVerbal communication and deep listening skills for peer reflectionDisclaimer: This job description is for general information purposes.
