Adjunct Culinary Instructor - Asian Cuisine at Southwest University at El Paso

Job Description: Southwest University is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Asian Cuisine Adjunct Culinary Instructor to join our esteemed culinary arts program. As an Adjunct Culinary Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and nurturing the next generation of culinary professionals. Your expertise, creativity, and ability to effectively communicate culinary techniques and knowledge will be vital in providing students with a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
The adjunct role will teach one class in areas of their expertise and runs either Mon-Wed or Wed-Friday depending of the cohort that is offered for a period of 6 week per term.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging culinary curriculum, including both theoretical and practical components, to students pursuing a culinary arts degree.
Teach and demonstrate fundamental and advanced culinary techniques, culinary theory, food safety and sanitation, nutrition, menu planning, and kitchen management.
Conduct hands-on culinary labs and supervise students' practical work, providing guidance and constructive feedback to enhance their culinary skills.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, techniques, and innovations in the culinary field and incorporate them into the curriculum to ensure students receive the latest knowledge and skills.
Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and creativity.
Monitor and assess student progress through assignments, projects, exams, and practical evaluations.
Provide individualized guidance and mentorship to students, offering career advice, industry insights, and professional development opportunities.
Collaborate with other faculty members to continuously improve the culinary program, develop new courses, and participate in curriculum development initiatives.
Maintain a safe and organized culinary lab environment, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the culinary industry, with a strong foundation in classical and contemporary culinary techniques, menu planning, and kitchen management.
Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts (Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred).
Exceptional culinary skills and a deep understanding of various cuisines, culinary trends, and nutritional principles.
Highly knowledgeable in Asian cuisine, demonstrated through either extensive professional experience or academic study.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
Proficiency in instructional technology and the ability to incorporate digital resources, multimedia tools, and online platforms into teaching.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
A commitment to professional growth, continuous learning, and staying abreast of industry developments.
3 years minimum of professional experience in the culinary industry, with a strong foundation in classical and contemporary culinary techniques, menu planning, and kitchen management.
Associates Degree in Culinary Arts (Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred).
Exceptional culinary skills and a deep understanding of various cuisines, culinary trends, and nutritional principles.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
