Pierpont Community & Technical College is seeking inviting and welcoming adjunct faculty instructors in a variety of disciplines:Applied DesignApplied Process TechnologyASL/Interpreter EducationAviation Maintenance TechnologyBusinessCommunicationsCriminal JusticeCulinary ArtsDrafting/Design Engineering TechnologyEarly ChildhoodElectric Utility TechnologyEmergency Medical ServicesEnglishFood Service ManagementGraphicsHealth Information TechnologyIndustrial MaintenanceInformation Systems TechnologyMedical Lab AssistantLicensed Practical NursingMathMedical Laboratory TechnologyMining Maintenance TechnologyParalegal StudiesPetroleum TechnologyPhysical Therapist AssistantRadiologic TechnologyRespiratory CareSocial Sciences (e.g. psychology; sociology; women and gender studies; social work; race class and gender)Natural Sciences (e.g. Biology Chemistry Human Anatomy & Physiology Microbiology)Physical Sciences (e.g. Physics)Veterinary TechnologyWeldingExamples Of Duties of adjunct instructors include but arent limited to:Teach community & technical college students in a specific field of expertise and engage with students to help them learn.Review/refine a class syllabus to include instructor-specific contact information and course policies and ensuring that the syllabus meets department and college standardsPlan and create lectures in-class discussions and assignmentsGrade assigned papers quizzes and examsAssess students progress based on participation performance in class assignments and examinationsReport student learning outcomes class reviews and analyzing student dataCollaborate with colleagues on the course curriculumAdvise students on how to be successful in classStay updated on innovations and changes within their course fieldRecord class attendance and submit (if needed) to program coordinatorMeet assigned classes as scheduled and follow school policies on absencesAdhere to designated instructional time for all classes (1 credit hour of lecture 1 contact hour; 3 credit hours of lecture 3 contact hours)Utilize assigned institutional email address and systems. Email is the OFFICIAL form of communicationMeet established deadlines for submission of student grades in ROARParticipate in course evaluation processDesignate and avail yourself to at least one hour either virtually or in-person as an office hour. Inform students on syllabus where and when these will be heldIn conjunction with program coordinator:Submit syllabus to the Office of the DeanMeet/follow course outcomes use required course components as determined by the school use assessments and provide assessment data to program coordinatorUtilize Blackboard for syllabus and grade book (training is provided as needed)Follow Academic/Registrar CalendarComply with adjunct contractAdditional InformationA masters degree in the desired discipline is preferred.Applicants with a masters degree area other than one in the desired field would be considered when the applicant has completed at least 18 graduate credits in the desired area.Applicants with bachelors degrees relevant experience and or certifications or specialized credentials would be considered based on the discipline.Teaching and or instructional experience is preferred.Typical QualificationsApplicants should submit the following:A cover letter that states desired discipline for instruction professional experience and or teaching/instructional experience;An updated resume or curriculum vitae (CV); andUnofficial (.pdf) transcripts (or official transcripts in .pdf sent to ) (Note: Invited contracted faculty are required to submit official transcripts before hire.)Official transcripts must be on file with the Provost for all faculty before the start of the academic term (to comply with collegeaccreditorguidelines).Equal OpportunityEmployerThe West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and the Community and Technical College System of West Virginia are equal opportunity employers.
