Job Details Experienced Brockton - Brockton MA Part Time Graduate Degree None Day EducationAdjunct Instructor - Introduction to Sociology Fisher College a private 4-year institution is seeking one (01) adjunct instructor to teach an Intro to Sociology class for the Spring 2026 semester at out Brockton location. The SO101 Intro to Sociology course it will be taught from January 12 2026 through May 8 2026 (no Winter or Spring Break). Classes will take place on Monday 9:00 AM- 12:00 PM or 12:30 PM- 3:30 PM. All classes are in-person Additional time is required for training course prep grading and student communications.Overview and Responsibilities:This course explores the basic concepts research methods and theories concerning the relationship between individuals and society. The influence of culture social structure and institutions in explaining human activity will be emphasized. The topics of deviance collective behavior and social change will also be examined and discussed.Learning Objectives:This course will provide students with the opportunity to:Discuss the study of society; describe human behavior by placing it within its broader social context including social change urbanization social movements and collective behavior.Identify the components of culture and cultural diversity including an understanding of norms values and beliefs.Recognize and explain social institutions (included but not limited to: education family economy religion government marriage and healthcare) groups organizations bureaucracies and the concept of socialization.Recognize and discuss how sociologists conduct research and use the scientific method.Summarize and discuss a basic understanding of deviance and the relationship between society and criminogenic behavior and how society reacts towards deviance.Identify and explain forms of social stratification and inequality which in part includes:class/economics (income wealth and poverty) race and gender.Achievement of learning outcomes will be contingent on student effort ability and engagement.
