Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:The University of Saint Mary is seeking qualified adjunct University Supervisors to support and evaluate teacher candidates during their student teaching placements in P–12 schools. University Supervisors serve as the critical link between the university’s educator preparation program and partnering school districts, ensuring that candidates receive high-quality coaching, evaluation, and professional feedback aligned with state and national standards.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Conduct regular on-site observations of teacher candidates during their student teaching placement (typically 4–5 per semester).Use university-approved evaluation instruments to assess candidate performance, including the Kansas Clinical Assessment Tool (KCAT).Provide timely, constructive feedback to teacher candidates focused on instructional practices, classroom management, planning, assessment, and professional responsibilities.Hold pre- and post-observation conferences with candidates to support reflection and goal-setting.Communicate regularly with cooperating/mentor teachers and school administrators to ensure alignment of expectations and support.Monitor candidate progress and submit required documentation, including observation reports, midterm/final evaluations, and incident reports as needed.Participate in required university training, calibration sessions, and virtual or in-person meetings with program faculty.Serve as a professional representative of the university in all partner school settings.Uphold university and state licensure requirements, confidentiality norms, and ethical standards.REQUIREMENTS:Master’s degree in Education or a closely related field.Experience in P–12 teaching with demonstrated instructional effectiveness.Leadership or supervision experience, such as serving as a department chair, instructional coach, mentor teacher, principal, or similar role.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to provide supportive yet rigorous feedback aligned with program and state expectations.Reliable transportation to school sites within the assigned region.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPrevious experience supervising student teachers or interns.Knowledge of state licensure standards and CAEP/KSDE expectations for clinical experiences.Experience working with diverse candidates and school communities.Familiarity with observation tools, electronic documentation systems, and performance assessments.
