You will perform a combination of various administrative and clinical tasks. Administrative responsibilities include greeting patients as they arrive, answering phone calls and emails, scheduling appointments, and updating and filing patients medical records. Clinical duties include taking patient medical histories, recording patient vital signs, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during examinations. When necessary, you will also administer vaccinations, injections, perform testings and process prescriptions to be filled at the patients preferred pharmacy.Medical Assistant Duties and ResponsibilitiesGreet patients and gather contact information and insurance dataAnswer phone calls, respond to patient questions, and take messagesFile insurance forms and call insurance companies with questions about coverageSchedule new and follow-up appointmentsPrepare rooms and ensure supplies are ready, ordering more when necessaryRoom Patient and take vitalsPrep and clean exam rooms after each patient (also at start and end of shift)Process Rx requests and refillsMonitor and track spreadsheetsAssist in procedures and examinationsTake and record patient vitalsAdminister vaccinations, injections, and perform testingEducate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment, and medicationsMedical Assistant Requirements and QualificationsAssociate degree in a medical field (preferred)Certified Medical Assistant (preferred)1+ years of experience working for a healthcare practice or hospitalFamiliar with medical terminologyInventory management experienceExcellent communication and organizational skills
