The Regional Admissions Counselor participates in the planning and execution of the recruitment activities associated with attracting and enrolling students who represent the priority enrollment goals outlined for the Undergraduate Admissions office. Candidates must reside within reasonable commuting distance of the New York City (NYC) metro region.Primary Responsibilities:Travel and OutreachTravel within the NYC metro region to represent the University at college fairs, high school visits, community-based events, and other recruitment activities. Occasional travel to the University at Albany campus may be required.Participate in regional consortiums and SUNY system-wide events.Provide information and guidance on the University's programs, admissions process, financial aid, and campus life to prospective students and families.Build and sustain relationships with high school counselors, students, and families.Conduct virtual and in-person presentations and one-on-one counseling sessions.Lead GenerationPartner with the on-campus Admissions team to implement regional recruitment strategies.Track engagement data and maintain timely records of activities and outreach.Application ReviewReview admissions applications from assigned regionFunctional and Supervisory Relationships:The Regional Admissions Counselor will report to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions but not have any direct reports.Job Requirements:Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and remotely while staying connected with central admissions operations.Must live within daily commuting distance of the NYC metro region.Comfort with Microsoft Office, CRM tools (e.g., Slate), and video conferencing platforms.Ability to travel to various work sites as needed. Reliable transportation is required.Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.1-3 years of experience in admissions, sales, customer service, advising, counseling, or related field.Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus communityApplicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their rolePreferred Qualifications:Experience in college admissions, high school counseling, or a related student services roleKnowledge of the educational landscape, schools, and student populations in the assigned regionFamiliarity with SUNY admissions processes and policiesBilingual or multilingual skills are a plusPrevious experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software, such as Slate.Working Environment:The employee will be required to stand for long periods of time and lift/carry admissions materials to college fairs and high school visits. Some weekends and evenings are expected.Training and onboarding will be provided by the University at Albany Undergraduate Admissions team.Additional Information:Professional Rank and Salary Range: SL-3, Admissions Advisor, $65,000 plus location pay**The location pay for NYC, Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland and Westchester is $4,000. Dutchess, Putnam and Orange, is $2000. Special Notes: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
