Those who live and work in Baytown will find an area rich in history, as well as opportunities for outdoor activities due to its proximity to scenic waterways, namely Galveston Bay, the San Jacinto River and Buffalo Bayou.Founded in 1919, ExxonMobil's Baytown Complex is located on approximately 3,400 acres along the Houston Ship Channel, about 25 miles east of Houston. Employing a workforce of more than 8,500, it is comprised of four manufacturing sites, including one in nearby Mont Belvieu, and a global technology center. What role you will play in our teamOur Utilities Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) holds a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of all utilities systems within a designated business unit. This position is essential to maintaining reliability, efficiency, and safety across our operations.Based in Baytown, Texas, the Utilities AME drives innovation, and long-term success by tackling complex challenges and spearheading strategic initiatives. Key responsibilities include:Solving intricate unit issues with deep technical insightLeading impactful improvement projects that elevate performanceProviding expert reviews of process safety studies to uphold the highest standardsMentoring and coaching, shaping the next generation of engineers through hands-on training and guidanceWhat you will doServe as the Utilities Advanced Manufacturing Engineer within the business unit by:Participates on the unit Operations teamProactively identifies issues prior to Operations impactLeads troubleshooting efforts for complex unit problemsOrganizes resolution of technical issuesLeads and/or participates in incident investigation teamsInterfaces with external organizations (e.g., Engineering, Technology)Initiates, supports, and champions technically advanced solutionsMaintains key interfaces (e.g., EM networks, Research Institutes and Academia, key vendors and suppliers)Provides technical reviews of special unit operations, unit operating changes / projects, and equipment strategiesIdentifies unit improvement ideas to meet site initiatives (e.g., energy, reliability, cost)Lead the development and implementation of larger improvement projects to support site initiativesProvides technical review of process safety studies for the business unit (e.g., HAZOPs, SRRs, LOPAs)Provides consulting on process safety for the unitShares safety learningsProvides training and mentorship to other engineersSupports the Utilities network and associated EM sitesDevelops and expands technology via partnerships and developmental projectsAbout youSkills and Qualifications:B.S. (or higher) degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering5+ years of industry-related experienceDemonstrated design experienceExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsCapable of working independently and achieving high standardsCapable of working with and leading teams effectivelyMentor / role model for setting work standards and business ethicsLeadership skills to influence Operations teamPreferred Qualifications/ Experience:Experience in Petroleum Refining or Chemical industries or with an industry-adjacent contractorExperience in offsites systems (e.g., flares, storage facilities, shipping, logistics, docks, pipeline)Experience in Engineering support of Utilities operations in a plant manufacturing environmentYour BenefitsAn ExxonMobil career is one designed to last.
