Job SummaryResponsible for providing comprehensive care at an advanced practice level to children and their families through assessment treatment clinical management ordering/or interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests teaching and participating/conducting research. Works collaboratively with physician partners administration nursing and health care teams to develop and implement clinical program needs.Job Specific DutiesActs as a resource for patients families staff or community groups providing education and emotional support.Develops implements evaluates monitors manages and modifies a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.Performs comprehensive and problem focused history and physician examinations.Considers factors related to safety effectiveness and cost in planning and delivering patient care across departments and promoting optimal patient outcomes.Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory tests radiological studies and consultations.Participates in quality improvement programs. Performs procedures as demonstrated through competency.Accountable for maintaining current expertise and skills in order to facilitate a high quality of clinical performance and to promote professional growth.Orders and/or prescribes medications for inpatients/outpatients. Participates in other necessary activities associated with patient care (writing daily progress notes coordinating clinical care discharge planning etc.).Writes orders monitors/alters drug therapies and performs other procedures with education and experience within established protocol in collaborative relationship with a Physician(s).Recognizes need for physician consultation and guidance as indicated within experience and scope of practiceActs as a preceptor for APP students#APPMinimum Job RequirementsMasters degree in nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)APRN Licensure issued by the State of Florida - maintain active and in good standing throughout employmentCertification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certification Board (AANPCB) or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employmentAmerican Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employmentAmerican Heart Association PALS required for Inpatient APPsLevel II Background Check - if required for this position or departmentAcute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification required for PICU CICU and Neurocritical Care UnitsKnowledge Skills and AbilitiesPediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification preferredAble to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients families and co-workers.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.Ability to problem solve to formulate a plan of care and evaluate the patients response to care.Ability to interpret adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions.
