LC State invites applications for the position of Advisor.Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $49754Degree Required: Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or universityRequired Qualifications: Minimum one year experience providing career guidance academic advising or related student support services in an educational or professional setting; Familiarity with student success resources and support services as evidenced by prior use referral practices or direct involvement in delivering such services in a college setting; Over one year experience working in office settings; and Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint) and demonstrated computer literacy.Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Higher Education Career Counseling Social Work or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university; Solid understanding of career and major exploration processes including decision-making strategies; Experience providing academic or career advising in a college or university setting; Proven ability to communicate effectively demonstrated through examples of written materials presentations or evaluations of verbal communication and interpersonal skills; and Proficient in using Ellucian Colleague or similar student information systems.Responsibilities: Provide direct initial academic advising for new Career & Technical Education (CTE) and academic program students; Coordinate referrals for placement assessments and developmental coursework as needed; Monitor and evaluate student progress in meeting developmental education and program-specific requirements; Conduct presentations and advising sessions for academic and CTE students including hands-on support during registration periods; Manage an ongoing caseload of academic advisees; Proactive outreach and communication to advisees regarding student engagement academic performance opportunities and concerns; Actively promote and participate in all Student Advising and Registration (STAR) events and related activities; Provide backup support for daily operations and services within The Advising Center; Support recruitment and retention initiatives through both direct student engagement and indirect programmatic efforts; and Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Academic Advising.Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.Application Procedure: Please upload all of the following documents or your application may not be considered for review.Cover Letter/Letter of InterestResume/Curriculum VitaeContact Information or Letters for three (3) Professional ReferencesUnofficial Transcripts (Official Transcripts requested upon hire)This position is open until filled.
