Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSummaryThe aftercare teacher will work from about 2pm until 6pm Monday-Friday. They will spend each afternoon in the classroom with a wide range of babies, toddlers, and preschool children. This person will facilitating inquiry approaches to learning that provoke thought and inspire playful discovery. This position plays an active role in setting and maintaining the physical environment of the classroom, contributing to lesson planning ideas, and monitoring children.Teeny Tiny Preschool is a holistic community-based learning center serving children ages 2 months to 5 years and their families. We value the talents and abilities of our employees and seek to foster an open, cooperative, and dynamic environment in which employees and Teeny Tiny alike can thrive.DutiesAssist teachers with end of the day routines and then supervise a wide range of children during the "aftercare" programHelp ensure smooth, daily transition from the child care center back home at the end of the dayFollow all center policies and state regulations.Assist with classroom maintenance and cleanlinessPerform daily and as needed cleaning and organizing tasksObserve and monitor childrenAssist children with potty practice and diaperingModel positive language, appropriate body language, and healthy social habitsAssist children in activities and self-care routinesActively pursue and participate in professional development opportunitiesCommunicate effectively with parents and co-workersRe-direct children with positive guidanceCollaborate with staff to maintain tidy and sanitary common spacesFind joy in your time with the childrenRequirementsAt least 18 years of ageHigh School Diploma or completed GEDOne or more years of experience working with childrenMust attend and complete ALL requiredand some elective training to state minimum standardsUnderstanding of or desire to learn child developmentAwareness of and experience with a variety of creative tools and experiencesCuriosity and willingness to learn about Reggio Emilia philosophies, democratic education and radical teaching practicesStrong belief in children’s innate intelligence, capability, creativity, and autonomyMust be able to lift 30 lbsMust be able to bend, stoop, or kneel to reach children’s eye levelMust be able to sit on floors and or child-sized chairsMust be able to write and communicate using EnglishNice To HavesPrevious childcare/preschool experienceBachelor's degree in education or early childhood educationBenefitsPTOAbout UsFounded in 2017, Teeny Tiny Preschool is more than just a preschool; it's a protest movement.
