Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: 18/hrPosition Title: Aftercare TeacherLocation: East Atlanta Village (EAV) CampusSchedule: MondayFriday, 2:30 PM6:00 PM (with potential for additional hours supporting our Art Program)Reports To: Head of SchoolJob OverviewThe Morgan Oliver School (MOS) is seeking a dependable, creative, and heart-centered Aftercare Teacher to join our East Atlanta Village campus. We are a small, mission-driven community school serving approximately 30 children, with a focus on connection, creativity, and care.The Aftercare Teacher will independently lead a group of 813 children each afternoon, creating a safe, joyful, and enriching environment to close out the day. This role requires a balance of structure, imagination, and relational teachinghelping children transition from the school day into meaningful, restorative play and learning experiences.This is an ideal role for someone who is experienced, responsible, and inspired to make afternoons come alive through art, games, and community-building.ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership: Oversee the daily aftercare program from 2:30 PM6:00 PM, ensuring a structured, warm, and engaging environment for children.Enrichment Planning: Plan and implement a mix of after-school offerings, including:Outdoor games and physical playIndoor crafts and creative projectsQuiet or homework time during designated blocksOccasional themed or seasonal activities that reflect student interestsStudent Supervision & Engagement: Provide attentive, hands-on supervisionjoining play, modeling cooperation, and helping children navigate transitions calmly and safely.Positive Discipline & Relational Care: Use Conscious Discipline and Love Pedagogy frameworks to guide children through conflicts and challenges with empathy, boundaries, and reflection.Communication & Collaboration: Coordinate with classroom teachers for smooth transitions and communicate with families at pick-up about each childs afternoon.Attendance & Documentation: Use Brightwheel to track attendance, document activities, and communicate important updates.Environment & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming aftercare space; ensure all safety, sanitation, and closing protocols are followed.Closing Responsibilities: Supervise the final pick-up window, secure materials and classrooms, and close the building responsibly each afternoon.Program Growth (Optional Extension): Opportunity to support or co-lead our Art Enrichment Program or other creative initiatives for additional hours.QualificationsRequired: Minimum 1 year of experience working with children in an educational or childcare settingRequired: Current CPR and First Aid certificationHigh school diploma or equivalent (college coursework in education or child development preferred)Demonstrated ability to plan engaging, age-appropriate activities across art, recreation, and academic supportExperience using Brightwheel or similar childcare communication systems (preferred)Strong communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skillsFamiliarity with or openness to Conscious Discipline and Love Pedagogy approachesAbility to work independently, demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and warmthMust pass a background checkCompensation & ScheduleHours: MondayFriday, 2:30 PM6:00 PM- with the possibility of subbing as neededCompensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience, with potential for additional hours supporting the Art ProgramJoin Our CommunityAt The Morgan Oliver School, we believe children thrive when they feel safe, seen, and inspired.
