Advise NC at NC State recruits recent college graduates to serve as “near peer” AmeriCorps Next Step Advisers in high-need high schools across the state. Our program is dedicated to closing the gap in post-secondary attainment and ensuring all North Carolina students have access to pathways beyond high school.AmeriCorps Next Step Advisers serve in a partner high school to increase the post-secondary enrollment among all students. Daily work hours follow the partner high school's expected schedule for faculty and staff.Other Work/Responsibilities:The Next Step Adviser position is an AmeriCorps position which requires 1700 hours of service and includes a commitment to participate in national days of service and additional responsibilities if called upon. The 1700 hours are fully integrated in the day-to-day responsibilities of the position.Minimum Experience/Education:Bachelor’s degree completed within approximately four years of service (see Purpose section regarding our near-peer model).
