New Mexico VA Health Care Systempart of  Veterans Health AdministrationAlbuquerque, NM 87108 Job DescriptionThe New Mexico VA Healthcare System (NMVAHCS) is seeking an Anesthesiologist in Albuquerque, NM. The NMVAHCS has an academic affiliation with the University of New Mexico. This position has the possibility of obtaining a clinical appointment at the University of New Mexico. This position allows time for academic study and responsibilities. This includes extensive participation in preoperative optimization of surgical patients; intraoperative clinical pathways including ERAS; postoperative management including participation in care in the surgical intensive care unit; and acute and chronic pain management services. Applicant must be capable of performing anesthesia for cardiothoracic surgeries such as CABGs, aortic valve replacements, and lobectomies. If applicant does not currently perform anesthesia for these types of cases, the applicant will be mentored to gain proficiency in the aforementioned cases.
