Job SummaryResponsible for coordinating and managing husbandry and/or specialty operations for laboratory animal care in one or more areas or facilities managed by the Office of Animal Resources. Ensure regulatory compliance with all federal state and local laws pertaining to assigned animal facilities. Provide direct supervision of assigned animal care technicians performing routine and non-routine procedures. Are assigned to weekend/holiday or on-call rosters. Work closely with the IACUC for proper documentation and development of proper SOPs and policies; if required attend monthly IACUC meetings as an ad-hoc memberRequired QualificationsBachelors degree in an appropriate area; or a high school degree or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. AALAS LATG at time of hire. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experiencePreferred QualificationsPrefer BS degree or higher with at least 4 years experience with research animal care at a research institution or other appropriate environment. Prefer 2 years research animal husbandry supervisory experience. Strongly prefer CMAR certifications at time of hire or within 15 months of eligibility. Needs excellent interpersonal and management skills.
