This position will play a key role in delivering high-quality, hands-on instruction that prepares students for careers in livestock production, meat processing, animal health, and related agricultural industries. The ideal candidate will bring strong content expertise, a commitment to student success, and a passion for engaging both traditional and nontraditional learners in applied, real-world environments.This faculty member will have access to Merced College's newly developed Ag Innovation Center, which includes a state-of-the-art meat processing lab designed for product development, processing demonstrations, and workforce training aligned with industry standards. Instruction will be enhanced through the use of the college's instructional farm and livestock facilities, providing students with immersive experiences in animal handling, production practices, evaluation, and the integration of modern technologies. Collaboration with other agriculture faculty, industry partners, and college leadership will be central to strengthening curriculum, expanding career pathways, and supporting regional workforce needs.This role offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of professionals in California's livestock and meat sectors. Examples of Duties Essential Functions:Provide innovative and effective instruction in accordance with current pedagogy and established course outlines and expectationsInform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance policies and maintain regular and substantive contact with studentsMaintain and submit required student attendance and scholastic records on the Learning Management System (e.g. grades and syllabi)Utilize the Learning Management System to deliver, prepare, and grade class assignments and examinationsMaintain and utilize effective skills in instructional design, applications, and methods Post and maintain regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policyParticipate in the development and review of curriculumParticipate in the development of teaching-learning methods and materialsParticipate in departmental, area, and campus professional activities/committees Represent the college within the Merced community and within professional circlesParticipate in the college's learning outcomes assessment program, including course, program, and institutional assessments to continually improve student learning outcomesTypical Qualifications Required: Any bachelor's degree AND two years of professional experience in animal science (agricultural production) ORAny associate's degree AND six years of professional experience in animal science (agricultural production) ORThe equivalentPromote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti-racist principles to nurture and create a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning and work environment.
