Apprentice / Journeyman Electrician - Tampa Service & Commercial Work at Jacob Electric LLC
JOB DESCRIPTION
Jacob Electric LLC is hiring Electrical Apprentices and Journeyman Electricians for full-time electrical work in the Tampa Bay area. This position supports a mix of commercial service work, residential electrical installations, EV charger projects, lighting upgrades, panel replacements, generator connections, troubleshooting, and tenant improvement work.
Apprentice electricians will assist licensed and experienced electricians while building field skills in wiring, conduit, device installation, service work, and electrical safety. Journeyman electricians will be responsible for completing installations, troubleshooting electrical systems, leading small crews, and coordinating work on active job sites.
This is a field position with work performed at different job sites throughout the Tampa Bay service area. Applicants must have reliable transportation and be comfortable traveling to assigned project locations.
Wages
Apprentice Electrician: $16 - $35/hour, based on experience and training level
Journeyman Electrician: $32 - $42/hour, based on experience and ability
Overtime available
Higher pay may be available for EV charger, generator, commercial service, and troubleshooting experience
Responsibilities
Apprentice Electrician
Assist with electrical installations, repairs, and service calls
Pull wire, install boxes, mount devices, and support conduit work
Help with lighting upgrades, EV charger installations, panel work, and basic troubleshooting
Learn to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and project drawings
Maintain tools, materials, and clean jobsite conditions
Follow company safety procedures, NEC standards, and Florida electrical requirements
Support journeyman electricians and crew leads on assigned projects
Journeyman Electrician
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems
Perform panel changes, circuit additions, lighting upgrades, service work, and equipment connections
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and electrical specifications
Lead apprentices and small field crews
Coordinate with project managers, customers, inspectors, and other trades
Ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and on schedule
Maintain compliance with NEC and Florida electrical codes
Requirements
Apprentice Electrician
Electrical apprenticeship experience or field experience preferred
Basic electrical knowledge and tool familiarity
Willingness to learn and advance
Reliable transportation to job sites
Ability to follow instructions and work safely
Valid driver's license preferred
Journeyman Electrician
Valid Florida Journeyman license preferred, or equivalent field experience
4-6+ years of electrical experience
Strong knowledge of NEC requirements
Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues independently
Ability to lead apprentices and complete work with limited supervision
Valid driver's license
Commercial service, EV charger, generator, or tenant improvement experience is a plus
