SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistantprovides specialty and preventive cardiac health care services to an adult collaboration with the attending physician provides all aspects of acute care including patient admissions consults follow-up care and discharges. Coordinates specialty care and discharge management for acute care patients. Provides care to same population in the office setting as well.EducationFor Nurse Practitioners: Completion of Masters degree in Advanced Practice NursingFor Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physicians Assistant Certification Program is requiredCertification Registration & LicensureCertification required: ACLS.Licensure required: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse: New Hampshire license as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and DEA license.Physician Assistant: New Hampshire license as Physician Assistant. DEA license for both APRN and PAsExperienceAt least one year of cardiology experience.ResponsibilitiesObtains patient health history and performs physical examination.Orders and interprets diagnostic tests.Diagnoses acute and chronic medical problems.Prescribes and manages medications.Provides preventive care secondary prevention and patient education according to practice standard.Meets productivity standard of the practice/department.Documents care provided in the medical record.Performs interprets and makes appropriate changes to cardiac devices.
